My thousand lives: Find your life expectancy
Mythousandlives.com has been put together to give tailored information about life expectancy. It takes data published by the UK's Office for National Statistics, on mortality rates and causes, and uses them to make predictions for your life expectancy based on your gender and precise age. It runs a thousand simulations of your life, and shows a graph of how many of them ended at different ages, so you get a distribution of life expectancies. You can then select a range of ages to see what the causes of death for the lives that ended in that range were. You can also explore the causes further. So if you're interested in what's most likely to kill you before the age of 50, you can check that, along with the biggest mortality risks for any range of ages in your future life. If you click on specific causes of death, this window will update to show you more details about that specific cause. You can also browse the causes using the menu on the left.
